Programmer / Developer

Our Government client is currently seeking one (1) Programmer / Developer. This is a 3-month contract opportunity slated to begin in March 2012. The successful candidate(s) will be a strong process-oriented individual with excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities:

 Translates technical systems specifications into working, tested applications. This includes developing detailed programming specifications, writing and/or generating code, compiling data-driven programs, and conducting unit tests.

 Experience in:

• Technological solutions for web development to meet or exceed WCAG 2.0 accessibility standard

• Structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications

• Design, code, test, debug and document applications

• Use of object and/or third generation language development tools

• One or more programming languages, in particular J2EE

• Relational and hierarchical database technologies, in particular Oracle

• Use of information retrieval packages using query languages

• One or more communications protocols

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge and experience with programming Internet-ready applications

• Knowledge and experience in rapid application development (RAD) methodologies

• Experience with web services, middleware and gateways

Deliverables:

• Translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications, including developing detailed programming specifications, writing and/or generating code, compiling data-driven programs, and conducting unit tests.

• Provide post-implementation support by analysing issues, root-cause investigation, defining and implementing solutions to resolve all production incidents to the client’s satisfaction.

• Develop and deliver detailed analysis, design and development documents for all the code modules.

• Conduct meetings with the designated CYSSC staff regarding the technical aspects of the project so that complete Knowledge Transfer has taken place.
