Programmer / Developer

Our Public Sector client is currently seeking one Programmer/Developer. This is a 12-month contract opportunity slated to begin in March 2012.

 

 Mandatory Requirements/Skills

  • Knowledge of, experience with, and proven skills developing and maintaining Cobol programs
  • A minimum of 3 years (within the last 5 years) supporting batch processing, and programs  in IMS DB/DC Mainframe Express (PC environment) using Enterprise COBOL for ZOS, BTS, JCL and CLIST
  • Knowledge of, experience with, and proven skills working on large projects involving complex integrated enterprise level business applications
  • Knowledge of emerging IT technologies and trends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Write or change, maintain, unit & system test and support programs in IMS DB/DC Mainframe Express (PC environment) using Enterprise COBOL for ZOS, BTS, JCL and CLIST
  • Write or change, maintain and unit test programs for conversion, and Integration (between the mainframe and application servers using tools such as connect direct, HIS and IMS connect)
  • Knowledge of, experience with, and proven skills supporting complex integrated enterprise level business applications similar to the OPGT:
  • Trust Accounting/ financial (AR,AP, GL)
  • Experience with the OPGT and their systems

Responsibilities:

·       Provide PGTAMS application support for business users on an ongoing basis.

  • Providing support for PGTAMS
  • Annual Disaster Recovery Testing
  • LTC/HSC renewals (semi-annual  or as required processes for long term care and special care) and annual changes from CRA for information related to income tax returns
  • Calendar and fiscal year end requires the preparation and scheduling of numerous jobs
  • Analysis, development and implementation of approved work requests received from the business (minor changes to support the day to day business)
  • Bug fixes
  • Support, maintain and enhance the Trust Accounts Management System (PGTAMS), including required testing.
  • Perform required analysis; business requirements prepare functional specifications and detail designs;
  • Write or change, maintain and unit test programs in IMS DB/DC Mainframe Express (PC environment) using Enterprise COBOL for ZOS, BTS, JCL and CLIST, following existing standards;
  • Write or change, maintain and unit test programs for conversion, and Integration (between the mainframe and application servers using tools such as              Connect Direct, HIS and IMS connect), following existing standards;
  • Promote programs from development to system test. System test online and batch programs. All work must follow existing standards;
  • Provide support in the development & production environments;
  • All work is required to be completed following the OPGT’s system development lifecycle (SDLC);
  • Prepare specifications, and document all modifications and enhancements made following existing standards;
  • Project work is to be completed within the timeframes set out in the project plans
  • On-call support for PGTAMS;
  • Provide PGTAMS application support for the users on an ongoing basis;  and
  • Perform other functions related to the project as required under the direction of the Manager of Technology Services.

Project Backgrounder:

PGTAMS (Public Guardian Trust Account Management System), a proprietary mainframe IMS COBOL system, is the Trust Accounting system for the OPGT. PGTAMS maintains the history of interactions with clients, a central register of guardians in Ontario, detailed biographical information and the status of clients’ assets. PGTAMS also allows authorization of financial transactions, provides financial accounting, provides limited asset management, tracking, and valuation or disposal of assets.

PGTed (Public Guardian and Trustee enterprise desktop) is a proprietary .Net N-Tier application that supports the management of client files, as well as correspondence management, and document management. It also provides integration with other business applications including a legacy mainframe application (PGTAMS), and an enterprise reporting solution.
